You may have been watching the inaugural Midnight Summit which has been held at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London. If not you missed a tour de force which has certainly placed Midnight firmly on the map. The second day has just concluded, with results from the hackathon due tomorrow.
Charles Hoskinson has also recorded another infamous whiteboard session for Midnight which has already racked up 1.8M views in the space of 4 days on YouTube, which would seem to suggest a genuine desire for privacy enhancing technology that will return data sovereignty to users.
There were a few reminders during the Summit that what is good for Midnight is also good for Cardano. The $NIGHT token will be launching as a Cardano Native Asset and will be available to trade from the 8th December. We also learned that there will be some form of incentivised test network from Q1 2026 in advance of the full launch later in the year. We are already running Midnight Testnet-02 as a validator, and expect delegators to benefit once the network goes live.
